A VPN is a powerful tool to protect your privacy online. Not all VPN providers provide the same level of security. Certain VPN providers are more transparent about their log policy than others and do a better job of preventing data breaches. ProtonVPN is a great example of a company who puts a lot effort into its security infrastructure. Its software is open source and the company regularly publishes transparency reports that describe how often it receives requests from law enforcement agencies and other third parties seeking information about users.
ProtonVPN offers a variety of features to protect your data, including encryption of connections using industry-standard 256 bits AES and incorporating features such as a kill-switch and a strict policy of not logging. The service provides features like Secure Core servers (double-VPN routing), NetShield, an ad-blocker as well as a tracking blocker, and flawless forward secrecy.
In the end, ProtonVPN has mobile apps that are a step above many of the leading competitors in terms usability. Its Android app is well-optimized and gives a clear overview of your current connection speed, the server load, and more. Additionally, it allows you to select specific cities to connect to, which is a nice feature for those who stream sports or who are looking to avoid local streaming blackouts. It also displays the load on each server in the list, so you can select the most efficient option by a single click.
