Proxies offer a wide range of network advantages like increased security and bandwidth savings. They are a common feature in business and school environments, but you can also set them up at home if your connection speed is slowing. Windows 10’s Settings app and Control Panel are where you can set proxy settings. If you use a Proxy for work or school make sure that the Automatic detection settings and Use setup script switches are On under the Automatic proxy Setup section.
Open the Internet Options window by clicking on the Control Panel icon or by typing “Internet options” into the Search bar. Click the Advanced tab and open the LAN settings in it. Input the proxy provider’s information in the Address and Port fields. Then, tick the box to use a proxy server for your LAN, and close the Internet Options window.
Sometimes, malware could mess with your proxy settings for your network to block you from connecting online. If the error “Windows could not detect this network’s proxy settings” persists, run a scan using an anti-malware software and determine if this helps.
If the issue persists, try resetting the proxy settings via the Registry. Be careful, as modifying the Registry could cause irreversible system damage. Before attempting this method, we recommend making backups. To do this, hold down the Win + R keys simultaneously. Enter cmd. This will launch the classic Command Prompt.
